The following is excerpted from the May 9 to May 18 call reports: 12:29pm 05/09/22 Animal Control Suttons Bay Township, Has cows in pasture that do not belong to him; animals are temporarily contained. Owners have been contacted and are en route. 12:44pm 05/09/22 Fire Lines Arcing N. Manitou Trail, Leland Fire spreading quickly, live line, winds: sse @18mph 1:28pm 05/09/22 Citizen Assist N. Peshawbestown Rd., A person in the ditch, possibly sleeping. 4:01pm 05/09/22 Animal Control Pickup Kasson Township, Called out by 45-30, requesting T&N for animal relinquishment of 10 guinea pigs. 4:12pm 05/09/22 Leaving Scene of Motor Vehicle Collision E. Bodus Rd. & S. Townline, Hit stop sign small black compact car, stop sign bent over. 5:06pm 05/09/22 Road Hazard N. West-Bay Shore, Elderly lady with leaf blower blowing sand and asphalt into road. Debris has been removed from the roadway.
3:53am 05/10/22 Suspicious Incident Elmwood Township, Someone is trying to break into house, reporting party saw someone outside and turned on lights, there is a man wearing a gray T-shirt, making weird noises, took most of his clothes off. He is detained at this time. One in custody.
4:21pm 05/10/22 Larceny Bingham Township Meat stolen from freezer.
8:44am 05/11/22 Vehicle in Ditch S. Good Harbor Trail, Silver Ford pickup off the road and into a telephone pole. Reporting party didn’t get a plate; said that the male driver was walking around smoking a cigarette and then attempted to get back in the vehicle and was trying to drive it out of the ditch. Lines involved are communication lines. Send a wrecker. On sobrieties. One in custody. Both lanes shut down to get vehicle out. Charter contacted.
1:08pm 05/11/22 Citizen Assist Reporting Party thinks her neighbor is throwing pinecones onto her property that are coming from the reporting party’s tree. Was advised to contact an attorney as this is a civil issue.
1:47pm 05/11/22 Traffic Stop Lake Leelanau, White farm tractor.
9:27pm 05/11/22 Suspicious Person Bingham Twp., Suspicious person walking around the neighborhood yelling profanities, staggering around, possible intoxicated. White male, middle aged, carrying a shirt, inside newly built unfinished home with flashlight.
8:02pm 05/12/22 Animal at Large S. Kasben Rd., Smaller angus calf in the roadway. Out with calf out alongside road next to the rest of the cattle, not currently in roadway. There was a gap under one of the fences, calf was returned.
10:31pm 05/12/22 Animal at Large E. Harbor Hwy., Reporting party can hear a cow from her address, thinks it is out and in distress. All cows accounted for, all fences are okay. Possibly they were just loud
1:54pm 05/13/22 Missing Person W. MacFarlane Rd., Sister missing for two hours. Was on a hike mushroom hunting. On NPS property. Out on Burnham Rd. with the sister gathering more information. Can hear in the woods near parked vehicle. En route there now. Out of woods.
8:09pm 05/13/22 OWI St. Josephs Street, Green GMC Envoy. On sobriety. One in custody.
12:02pm 05/14/22 Animal Control Welfare Check Glen Arbor, Grabbing cat by tail, pulling whiskers out. Sent video 10pm and this morning of her abusing a cat; getting address.
5:35pm 05/14/22 Suspicious Person Nedows Bay Beach, Reporting party was at beach, woman stopped in parking lot and was reading license numbers, in distress. Tried to approach her, said she wanted “less problems.” Ranting. Pulled out speeding. Post on Overheard in Leelanau describing similar incidents throughout the county, throughout the day.
2:05am 05/15/22 Citizen Assist W. Empire Hwy., Reporting party is concerned because her husband is working in Empire and staying at the RV park. He usually talks to her every night and last night he did not call her, and reporting party has not been able to get ahold of him. He is okay, does not have good reception where he is at right now, will be home tomorrow morning.
9:40pm 05/15/22 Traffic Violation S. Lake Shore Dr., Reporting party thinks he is behind intoxicated driver. White SUV, heading northbound going 40 mph and driving on the white line and on the dirt. Has almost hit mailboxes and trash cans. Be on alert aired.
10:07pm 05/15/22 911 Hangup Cedar, “I don't want you driving right now.” And “I want out of the car, let me out of the car.” Female heard clearly on the phone but never responded to questioning. Checked the intersection, no vehicles or individuals; made it to Burdickville and Dunns Farm, unable to locate.
12:31am 05/16/22 OWI E. Fouch Rd. & S Center Hwy., on sobrieties, get a hook for the vehicle. One in custody.
9:32am 05/18/22 Civil Elmwood Twp., Neighbor yelling at her, ran over reporting party’s plants. An ongoing, 32-years-long dispute.
10:14am 05/18/22 Malicious Destruction of Property, Lake St., Three people stepped and put handprints in new cement. Elmers has to tear up section now. Has them on camera.
10:20am 05/18/22 Suspicious Incident N. West-Bay Shore, Can hear people yelling for help near beach. Hollering, saying help. Went to beach, unable to locate.
10:32am 05/18/22 Unconscious N. West-Bay Shore, Woman down. Priority 1. This was the source of the earlier cry for help.
