My favourite moment with Gareth as England manager has to be when we beat Germany at Wembley - my partner and I had just completed on our house purchase and moved our stuff in before getting to the pub with mates just in time for kick off - great day.

I think Jordan Pickford has been really good in the games. I think it's really difficult for people to understand, there’s a lot of spotlight on England players, there’s a lot of pressure toperform, but I think the biggest one in there is probably the England goalkeeper, just because of what you’re dealing with.
It can be difficult circ*mstances and he hasbeen first-class, no matter what’s gone on around him, but inside he knows he candeliver.

A quick bit of football news away from the Euros, Manchester City have signed former Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old, who is the all-time leading goalscorer in the Women's Super League, left the Gunners at the end of June after her contract expired.
Arsenal decided against offering Miedema a new deal, despite her scoring 125 goals in 172 appearances for the club.
The Netherlands international, who was limited to just eight WSL appearances over the past two seasons after she tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee in December 2022, has now signed a three-year deal with City.

Tom Heaton
Manchester United goalkeeper on the Football Daily PodcastJordan Pickford has been absolutely brilliant in the England shirt.
I haveworked with him on plenty of occasions and I’ve been nothing butimpressed with him, in terms of what he’s delivered day in and day out.
He’s got a really good array of distribution. He’s got the long, he’s got the mid-range, he’sgot the short range, every club in the bag.
Jordan does the playing out well and understanding where and when to dothat, picking the right time for the risk reward. Does it very well off the feet which is a skillin itself.
The game has evolved a lot but for a lot of goalkeepers the priority remains to keep the ball out of the net, and he’s also done that really well.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is in line to earn his 66th cap for England on Saturday when they take on Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
The 30-year-old former Sunderland stopper made his international debut seven years ago in a 0-0 draw against Germany.
He has been England's first-choice goalkeeper at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024, as well as the 2018 and 2022 World Cups:
- Pickford has surpassed Peter Shilton's record for clean sheets with England at major tournaments, keeping 11 in 22 appearances
- If England go all the way to the Euro 2024 final, he will be on 68 caps, only seven behind Joe Hart (75), who is the second most capped England goalkeeper. PeterShilton leads the way with 125 caps.
Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton is working at the England camp with the goalkeepers. Find out what he had to say about Pickford on today's Football Daily Podcast.

Daily Mirror chief football writer on the Football Daily podcastWhat an option Trent Alexander-Arnold provides because he’s still that best deliverer of theball in the England squad.
I think notbeing picked [to start on Saturday] would be a blow for Alexander-Arnold because he’s played inmidfield twice.
I think if he doesn’t getthis opportunity, he’ll look back on this tournament and it’ll be anotherfrustration. Get him onthe pitch, I’d love to see him.

England v Switzerland (Sat, 17:00 BST)
Gareth Southgate says he wants his players to return to the "mental stage" that helped them overcome Slovakia in the last 16 as they prepare for Saturday's Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland.
Jude Bellingham's acrobatic stoppage-time equaliser breathed new life into a side seemingly heading home from Germany, and they capitalised early in extra-time as Harry Kane's header helped secure a 2-1 win.
"We showed great resilience and great character to keep going right until the end, and I think we deserved a draw in the 90 minutes," England manager Southgate told Uefa.
"When you get the goal so early in extra time, you're able to be in charge of things a little more.
"We have to get ourselves back to the mental stage we were in before the game with (Slovakia).
"Where whatever it takes to win, you've got to be ready to go. You've got to be ready to go right to the depths again."

Everyone has their own ideas on who should be in England's starting XI - you can even have a go using BBC Sport's selector - but ultimately that responsibility falls on the broad shoulders of Gareth Southgate.
The former England defender has led his nation to a World Cup semi-final and quarter-final, and was a penalty shootout away from Euro 2020 glory.
Can his Three Lions side go one step further in Germany?
We would like you to help get us in the mood by describing your favourite, most memorable moment of Southgate's 99 games in charge.
Also, tell us how you believe he compares to other great England managers and how much Euro 2024 could define his tenure.

The way England have played in all four matches, I see no risk at all in changing tactics. Also, there are still a lot of players in this squad that are familiar with England playing three at the back. I don't think it can be understated just how badly England have played...it's not a player having an off day, or fans overreacting because we didn't win 5-0. We literally have not played. We've not turned up. Change is essential.

'Dangerous' for England to change tactics - Gelson Fernandespublished at 08:16

England v Switzerland (Sat, 17:00 BST)
Simon Stone

I have been speaking to former Switzerland and Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes about Saturday's Euro 2024 quarter-final.
The 37-year-old is a veteran of five major tournaments, and famously scored the goal that gave Switzerland victory against eventual winners Spain in the first game of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
He questions Gareth Southgate's plan to switch to three at the back for the last-eight clash.
"Would you change the tactical aspect when you are already in the quarter-final?" he said. "It's quite dangerous forme.
"At that level you don't test. Usually you can do that infriendly games. That is when you can change things. At that level it'stricky.
"I don't want to judge Gareth Southgate because he is thecoach, theonly thing I would say is, as a player, it's better to have certain thingswhich you are sure of; if you compensate from right to left, or you push up, oryou come out, when you go two v two.
"In the final round it’s betterto know what you're doing, because otherwise it can be tricky and on the pitchyou don't have time to react and to adjust. It might be too late.
"But that'snot my problem. It's England's problem."
Shaw to provide balance to England defence?published at 08:06

England v Switzerland (Sat, 17:00 BST)

Gareth Southgate admitted when including Luke Shaw in his provisional squad that it was a "long shot", but clearly hoped the left-back would return to play some part in the tournament after deciding not to take another left-footed defender to Germany.
One of the key reasons Shaw continues to be in the conversation, as the Times reports, is that the England manager is considering a switch in tactics for Saturday's quarter-final against Switzerland - from a back four to a back three.
Shaw could bring much-needed balance to either formation, as a left-sided centre-back, left wing-back or left full-back.
The Three Lions boss must decide on a replacement for suspended centre-back Marc Guehi, with Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa talked about as the most likely to come in on the left side of a back three, but that is a position he has not regularly played for his club side.
What do you think? Thumbs up if you would consider playing Luke Shaw, or thumbs down if you think it would be too much of a risk...

Finally, the Times has an encouraging line on Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw, reporting that he is fit enough to play a part in England's Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland in Dusseldorf on Saturday.
Shaw has has been struggling to recover from a hamstring injury and has not played since 18 February.
